Premier League and Championship clubs are among those battling to sign Leyton Orient striker Macauley Bonne, talkSPORT understands.
The Zimbabwe international, 23, is set to go head-to-head with Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations following a fine campaign in the National League.
Bonne hit 20 goals in the league as The O’s won the division and promotion to League Two sparking major interest in his services from around the country.
Signed in 2017 from Colchester United, the player is now being targeted by Charlton Athletic, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough, while Sheffield United and Leicester City are also interested.
The clubs have been buoyed by the news Bonne has a £200,000 release clause, which will allow them to snap up the talented forward on the cheap.
Leyton Orient are believed to have offered their star striker significantly improved terms to counter the incoming offers.

Leyton Orient forward Macauley Bonne talks goals and lining up against Mo Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations
Bonne told talkSPORT last week he is fully focused on his future at Orient and not thinking about any potential interest.
“I took a step down out of the league to prove that I could play minutes and score goals,” he said. “Now we’re back in the Football League, it’s my chance to show everyone, especially at Colchester, what I can do back in the Football League. I hoped they would have given me more of a chance but that’s football – it doesn’t go the way you always want it to go.

“I can’t thank everyone at Orient enough for doing that for me. Now I can show everyone in League Two what I can do, hopefully.
“Where else would I want to be? I’m the main man at the minute. My eyes aren’t being wondered whatsoever.”
And he believes The O’s, under manager Justin Edinburgh, could find themselves battling for promotion to League One next season.
“It’s exciting to see what we can do in League Two,” He added: “You’ve seen the likes of Tranmere and Forest Green who have come up from the Conference and are fighting for promotion to League One.
“I’d say we’re just as good or even better than some of the teams in there. I see us doing that next season if we all stick together.”
