Former Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell was under consideration for the vacant technical director role at Arsenal.
Mitchell made a name for himself at Southampton, playing a part in the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2012.
The former MK Dons defender then followed Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham in 2014 and engineered the signing of players such as Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld.
He now plies his trade at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, helping to produce their young talent and recruit players, but it is understood the Gunners have terminated their interest.
Arsenal were left disappointed when Monchi, who left a similar role at Roma two weeks ago, rejected their three-year offer in favour of a second spell at Sevilla.
