Daniel James has become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing as Manchester United manager agreeing to a £15million move from Swansea.
The midfielder left the Wales camp to undergo a medical at Old Trafford after he was excused from preparations for for his nation’s Euro 2020 qualification double-header against Croatia and Hungary.
The 21-year-old was close to joining Leeds United during the January transfer window, with the player reportedly at Elland Road ready to be unveiled before the move collapsed.
There was also interest from Graham Potter, who managed Swansea last season and is now in charge of Brighton, who wanted to take his former winger to the Amex Stadium.
However, James has now sealed a move to one of the world’s biggest clubs.
Below talkSPORT.com gives an in-depth insight into all you need to know about the talented attacker…

Club career so far?
Signed from Hull’s academy in 2014 for £72,000, he followed in the footsteps of Joe Allen and Ben Davies by going from the youth set up to first team player when he made his Swans debut in the Championship draw with Birmingham in August 2018.
In June 2017, he signed for Shrewsbury on loan, but two months later the deal was terminated after he failed to make an impact.
“Shrewsbury Town can confirm that Dan James’ loan spell has been terminated by mutual consent and he will return to Swansea City,” a statement read on the club’s website.
“Dan joined Town on-loan from Swansea this summer, but he hasn’t been able to force his way into Paul Hurst’s side.
“The club would like to thank Dan for his hard work and dedication during his time with the club.”
To date, he has made 43 career appearances and scored seven times.
How much is he likely to cost?
Reports suggest that Swansea and the Red Devils agreed a £15million deal for the highly-rated winger.
WalesOnline have said the figure is £18m, but an exact total is likely to be revealed at a later date.
International experience?
After being called up to the Wales side in 2017 by Chris Coleman, the Yorkshire-born attacker made his debut for Wales last November, with Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs handing him his first cap and he has two in total
He also scored the winning goal in Wales’ Euro 2020 qualifying win against Slovakia.
What’s been said about him?
“I can only give you my opinion, I think he is ready for it,” Stoke City’s Joe Allen said.
“He is a level-headed lad who has huge ability and I am sure he wants to show it at the highest level he can.
“I am confident he can do that.”
“Dan James has got a bright future,” said John Harrison, former Wales striker.
“He scored a goal in his second cap where he was starting on the left-hand side. He has ridiculous pace and played well against Manchester City in the FA Cup.
“He was almost out of the door and was up at Leeds signing for £10million and he brought him back.
“I think that will treble now with the market the way it is.”
Giggs, his manger for Wales said: “He is a talent, and when you have got that raw pace you are a threat at any level.
“As a winger, you then have to develop the other parts of the game, which I feel that he is doing. He just needs to carry on doing what he’s doing for Swansea, it’s as simple as that.”
How will he fit in to Man United?
James has actually played on the left more often than any other position for Swansea and his direct pace and trickery would certainly worry any full-back.
United have Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez who can play there too but the later is, one way or another likely to be moved on.
Solskjaer favoured a 4-4-2 diamond last season and James is also capable of operating as a No.10, with a defensive midfielder to back him up, but it is more likely he would feature out wide on the left in a 4-3-3, allowing him to hit the flank and fly.
