A 32-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the crime before being released under investigation.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said: “It’s a shame, he is not going to be with us at the weekend.

â€Å“I took the decision out of Gary’s hands. It’s a shame what happened.

â€Å“He is recovering well, but I think it’s better that he rests and recovers and gets himself 100 per cent right, and we get Gary McAllister back when he can be the real Gary McAllister.

A Rangers win would close the gap on leaders Celtic to seven points with as many games to go.

Jeremy Toljan, on loan at Celtic from Borussia Dortmund, believes his side do not need to win the game.

He said: â€Å“Hopefully we can win this game, no matter if I start or not, and hopefully extend our lead at the top of the table to 13 points.

â€Å“The gap at the top certainly helps. You can go into the game very comfortable, but even though we don’t need to win, we want to win and we want to win convincingly, that’s for sure.

â€Å“Our league lead allows us to go into the game with a little more comfort, and allows us to play our game, especially at home.”
