Tottenham fans hilariously mock Unai Emery for selling Lucas Moura while at PSG following Brazilian’s Champions League masterclass

Tottenham fans have flocked to social media to mock Arsenal boss Unai Emery for selling Lucas Moura while manager of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian netted a stunning hat-trick to sink Ajax and send Spurs on their way to their first Champions League final in their history.

Emery never really rated Moura while manager of PSG

Moura and Emery worked alongside each other for 19 months while in the French capital, but Emery never rated the pacey forward and he made just seven first-team appearances in his final season before he was sold to Spurs for £25million.

The white side of north London is revelling from the fact that their sole acquisition from the last two transfer windows has almost single-handedly guided them to one of the biggest nights in their history.

Have a look at some of the hilarious tweets below…

Following the match, Pochettino did not want to get drawn into discussing the final, however, with over three weeks to go before the two sides face off in Madrid.

“Allow me to relax a little bit, there is going to be time to talk about Liverpool,” he said.

“I want to congratulate Jurgen Klopp and all the players and Liverpool, because I think they were amazing.

“We enjoyed a lot, watching the tie against Barcelona, they are heroes too and of course it is going to be an amazing final between two English teams that for sure we are going to enjoy.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang insists Golden Boot race is ‘victory for Africa’ as Arsenal striker ends level with Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah

This season’s Golden Boot race was a good sign for African football, according to Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international netted twice on the final day of the season to end with 22 goals in his first full season with the Gunners.

Senegal star Sadio Mane also scored twice on the final day to end on 22 while Egypt forward Mohamed Salah, and Liverpool team-mate, was at the top of the list as well.

Aubameyang told The Sun: “It means a lot. I am really happy and proud of it.

“I am sharing this trophy with Mane and Salah – and I like these two guys. We are representing Africa so it is a good sign for the Continent. I am really proud and I have to thank my team-mates for helping me to get it.”

The 29-year-old has 32 Premier League goals in 49 games for Arsenal since joining in January 2018 and he has vowed to get better in the toughest league in the world.

He said: “Now you can say the Premier League is the best in the world because four clubs are in the finals and as we saw this season, Liverpool and Manchester City played the last game for the title. So that’s why I came here, for that.

“It is always a tough battle when you play a game here in England and you have to be ready physically. That’s the most important change when I came here from Germany.

“It took a little bit of time. I had six months to adjust me to this league. I think I did well in the first six months and now I have the whole season. I am happy with that. Hopefully I will do better next seasons.”

Aubameyang still feels disappointment at missing out on the top four and is targeting Europa League glory in a fortnight for a successful campaign.

He said: “I had great seasons as well in Dortmund. This one was a tough one. I would say in truth maybe not the best but I gave everything to try to be in the top four with the team and to get a trophy.

“I am happy with my season, not the best but I am happy.”

Kemar Roofe is out of Leeds United’s second leg Championship play-off semi-final against Derby County on Wednesday with a calf injury.

Roofe scored his 15th goal of the season, producing an excellent first-time finish from Jack Harrison’s cross to give Marcelo Bielsa’s side a crucial advantage.

It will be a huge blow to Leeds, as the 26-year-old has scored four goals in three games against Derby this season.

Roofe will be joined on the sidelines by midfielder Adam Forshaw, while defender Pontus Jansson remains doubtful, revealed Bielsa.

Patrick Bamford is likely to be put back into the starting XI in place of Roofe, having served his two-match suspension.

“(Adam) Forshaw won’t be available,” Bielsa said.

“(Pontus) Jansson will tomorrow try to work normally. And we will see tomorrow how he is.

“Roofe won’t be available either. Kemar’s problem is more simple than Adam’s, but still he won’t be available for Wednesday’s game.”

Football: Australian female players to earn same base pay as men

SYDNEY (AFP) - Australia's professional female footballers secured a landmark pay rise on Friday (June 7) that will see them receive the same minimum wage as their male counterparts in a win for gender equality.
Under a new collective bargaining agreement unveiled on the eve of the Women's World Cup in France, the base annual pay for players in the W-League was hiked 33 per cent to A$16,344 (S$15,570).
Their season is much shorter than the A-League, but pro-rata it matches the men's minimum salary.
Australia has emerged as a champion for equality in the sports arena with netballers and women cricketers also winning better pay deals in recent years.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) hailed the move as "an outcome that delivers on the gender equity principle of 'same base pay for same base work'".
The deal means that players in both leagues "will receive the same minimum remuneration hourly rate", said FFA Head of Leagues Greg O'Rourke.
Up until two years ago, many players in the W-League were considered amateur and received only expense reimbursements, but that changed in 2017 when they won better employment conditions.
Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) chief John Didulica said he was "proud" to have secured another "landmark step for women footballers".
The W-League, which typically runs from November to February, has been growing in popularity with high hopes that standards will improve further as the country targets hosting the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Australia is at the forefront of closing pay gaps with 17 sporting chief executives, including from cricket, rugby union, and Australian Rules, backing a collaborative effort this year to advance all aspects of women's sport.
"The idea of activating the entire sports ecosystem to hasten change is an approach that could be considered and replicated throughout the world," tennis legend Billie Jean King, a key supporter, said at the time.
Australia is not the only nation pressing for change with the US women's football squad in March filing a federal lawsuit in Los Angeles alleging gender discrimination by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
It claims the federation had "utterly failed to promote gender equality" between the women's team and far less successful men's national team, with the players seeking millions of dollars in back pay and damages.
A handful of sports have already moved to address the issue with the World Surf League for the first time this year paying the same prize money to women and men following a growing backlash on social media.
WSL chief executive Sophie Goldschmidt said it was "simply the right thing to do" in announcing the move last September.
Tennis was a leader in levelling the playing field with all four Grand Slam tournaments now paying equal prize money, with the Williams sisters among the most outspoken on pay equality.
The breakthrough football deal in Australia comes with the PFA spearheading a push for an increased cash pool at the World Cup in France that gets underway on Friday.
The Our Goal is Now campaign website said the 24 teams will compete for US$30 million (S$41 million), just 7.5 per cent of the US$400 million for the men's World Cup in 2018, adding the gap had widened across the four-year World Cup cycle.
"It is the players themselves who are the victims of the discrimination," the PFA's Didulica told broadcaster ABC.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool: Four key battles in the Champions League final including Harry Kane vs Virgil van Dijk

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool: Four key battles in the Champions League final including Harry Kane vs Virgil van Dijk

Tottenham and Liverpool will do battle for the right to call themselves champions of Europe on Saturday – a match you can listen to LIVE on talkSPORT.

Both teams made it to the Champions League final in dramatic circumstances with Liverpool beating Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate, while Spurs completed a stunning second-half turnaround at Ajax.

Tottenham scored three goals in the second-half of their second leg at Ajax

It’s the first time two Premier League sides will face each other in the final of Europe’s premier club competition since 2008 when Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties in Moscow.

But where will the 2019 final be won and lost?

talkSPORT.com have identified FOUR key battles between Tottenham and Liverpool players ahead of Saturday’s game.

Christian Eriksen vs Fabinho

It may not be the glamour duel in the final but you could make a very strong case that Christian Eriksen’s battle against Fabinho is the most important one on the pitch.

Spurs fans will say Eriksen hasn’t been at his best this season but he’s their most creative player and is capable of that magic pass or shot that could win what is expected to be a tight game. But Fabinho will be out to stifle him.

Fabinho was in brilliant form in the semi-finals, particularly in the Anfield game

6

Fabinho was in brilliant form in the semi-finals, particularly in the Anfield game

The Brazilian was tasked with marking Lionel Messi in the semis and did a pretty good job even though the Barca superstar scored two goals in the first leg at the Camp Nou.

However, Messi was a shadow of the great player he is at Anfield and a lot of that was thanks to Fabinho’s tireless efforts. If you can stop Messi, then you shouldn’t fear anyone.

Kieran Trippier vs Sadio Mane

By his own admission, Kieran Trippier has struggled to replicate the splendid form he showed in the 2017/18 season and the 2018 World Cup and his latest setback saw him miss out on a place in England’s final Nations League squad.

The right-back has made a few noticeable mistakes this season including an embarrassing own goal in a Premier League defeat at Chelsea in March.

Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been at the top of his game this season, winning the Golden Boot alongside team-mate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 22 goals.

Mane and Trippier have had contrasting seasons

6

Mane and Trippier have had contrasting seasons

Spurs fans may worry about this duel and Mauricio Pochettino could even alter his line-up to make sure there aren’t too many one-on-ones between Trippier and Mane.

Heung-Min Son vs Trent Alexander-Arnold

But Liverpool may have to worry about the left hand side of their opponents too with Heung-Min Son likely to be up against Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold is brilliant going forward and Spurs will have to keep an eye on his devastating crosses from the right. It was his quick thinking that saw him provide an enterprising assist for Divock Origi’s second-half strike which was the decisive goal in sending Liverpool through.

However, the 20-year-old is not the finished article defensively and he can be got at by the South Korean who has had another great campaign at Spurs.

Son has scored crucial goals on Spurs’ route to the final

Son has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season and there were even calls for him to be nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Harry Kane vs Virgil van Dijk

This is the big duel in the final as Harry Kane and Virgil van Dijk are of equally huge importance for their respective clubs.

It looks as though Kane will be fit to start the final despite his ankle injury so he’ll probably do battle with PFA Player of the Year Van Dijk.

Van Dijk and Kane are likely to come up against each other when England face the Netherlands in the Nations League on June 6

Stats suggest the last player to successfully dribbled past centre-back Van Dijk in March 2018 but Kane is a constant threat.

The England striker may latch himself on to Van Dijk’s centre-back partner, which is likely to be Joel Matip, in an attempt to get more joy but there will be occasions when Van Dijk deals with the Spurs forward so the phrase ‘clash of the titans’ will be appropriate in this case.
