Ibrahima Konate (RB Leipzig)

Strong in the air and a master at keeping it simple, Konate is excelling the Bundesliga.

Arsenal have previously been reported to be looking at the Frenchman and it is unsurprising.

He could do with improving his passing but he still moves the ball forward well and wouldn’t cost as much as some of the Premier League stars linked.

Mario Hermoso (Espanyol)

Another player recently watched by the Gunners is the 23-year-old ex-Real Madrid centre-back. Reports in November suggested he was an option for Emery but nothing materialised in January.

His form this season earned him an international call-up back in November and he played against Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He times his tackles well and is happy to get physical without giving a foul, which could come in handy in the Premier League.

Gianluca Mancini (Atalanta)

The composed Italian centre-back is another left-sided player, a requirement soon with Laurent Koscielny now 33 and approaching the end of a fine Emirates career.

Like Hermoso, he’s excellent at timing his challenges and at 6ft 3in he’s very capable aerially too.

He’s a huge Inter fan and wears the no.23 shirt in tribute to Marco Materazzi, he even had a tattoo of the ex-Everton centre-back when he was 16.

He’s also involved in namesake Roberto Mancini’s Italy squads at the moment thanks to his good form.

Joachim Andersen (Sampdoria)

Staying in Serie A, Andersen has been linked with rivals Tottenham in recent months.

He’s a fine ball-player who already possesses excellent positioning and intelligence, especially when it come to reacting in under pressure scenarios.

Andersen can pass the ball forward with relative ease and will try and get his team on the front foot quickly, whether it’s from dead balls or open play.

Lisandro Martinez (Defensa Y Justicia)

A spritely young left-sided centre-back, Martinez would be a signing for the future. While some may baulk at his 5ft 9in height, the Argentine’s incredible technique with the ball at his feet makes him an attractive proposition in the modern game where centre-backs must be just as blessed with the ball as they are without it.

He’s got an excellent long range pass on him too if you’re looking for someone to spread the play. He’s can operate in a back-three or a back-four, and has also spent time at left-back, giving some versatility which would be welcomed at the Emirates.

Martinez, 21, also has one cap for Argentina as they look to youth, with Tottenham star Juan Foyth also a squad regular now.

PARIS (REUTERS) - A rampant France smashed South Korea out of sight on Friday (June 7) to open their women's soccer World Cup campaign in irrepressible style with a 4-0 victory that sent a warning to all other teams with a design on the trophy.
It was one-way traffic all night in a packed 45,000-seater Parc des Princes as the French launched wave after wave of attack at the hapless Koreans, running out easy winners to stamp their authority on Group A of the FIFA extravaganza.
France skipper Amandine Henry controlled the midfield with a firm grip and deft touch, while strikers Eugenie Le Sommer and Delphine Cascarino were constant threats.
From the very first minutes South Korea struggled to get out of their own half and Le Sommer set the tone after nine minutes when she slammed a shot past Korean keeper Kim Min-jung into the roof of the net to send the stadium into raptures.
France had all the play, and thought they had doubled their lead after 27 minutes when Griedge Mbock Bathy slammed a volley home, only for the video assistant referee to rule it out for offside two minutes later.
Wendie Renard made amends after 35 minutes, the powerful central defender thumping a header home for her 21st international goal. She added another headed goal to make it 3-0 on the stroke of halftime of what was rapidly becoming a non-contest.
The Koreans were being outclassed in every department, and trudged off at the break having barely ventured out of their own half.
Korea desperately scrambled to keep the French at bay - just - and with the result in no doubt French coach Corinne Diacre looked to preserve some of her star names for later action, taking Cascarino off in the 70th minute, replacing her with Valerie Gauvin; and replacing Amel Majri with fellow defender Eve Perisset four minutes later.
Just as the Koreans thought they had somehow kept the French at bay for the second period, Henry added to the tally, slamming a right foot shot curling into the Korean net from the edge of the area for 4-0 and a fitting finale.
Norway take on Nigeria in the other Group A game in Reims on Saturday.

Emelyne Laurent – France

Laurent has been predicted to be the next great striker of the French national team and it’s easy to see why.

The 20-year-old was chosen over Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who scored a stunning 53 goals in 57 matches for Paris Saint-Germain this season.

France head coach Corinne Diacre said: “She brings a lot. We didn’t have a player who can break into the area and win a penalty if we need to get back in a game.”

Laurent is a superb finisher, an excellent dribbler and is also lighting quick. She is definitely one to watch

Patri Guijarro – Spain

Guijaro was sidelined for five months earlier this season which ruled out her of the Champions League final but she is now back and ready to be a standout performer for Spain.

The 21-year-old won the Golden Ball at the Under-20s World Cup following an outstanding tournament, where Spain lost in the final.

There is a lot of pressure on her shoulders to deliver in one of the most youthful sides in the competition.

Georgia Stanway – England

Stanway can be one of the Lionesses’ most important players in the World Cup, even if she is just 20 years old.

After a superb season with Manchester City, who lost just once in all domestic competitions, the forward is certainly one to watch from the England squad.

She scored on her debut for Phil Neville’s side back in November and this tournament could be her moment to show the world the talent she undoubtedly possesses.

England are one of the favourites for the tournament and if they do shine, you’d back Stanway to play a leading role.

Giula Gwinn – Germany

Gwinn has so much potential it’s scary and she has already been heralded as the future of German football.

The Freiburg playmaker, who will join Bayern Munich following the tournament, has worked her way through the ranks with some stunning performances.

She is still just 19-years-old but she is more than ready to take to part in the competition for the biggest prize in football.

Over the course of the season, she scored 13 times in 26 games for Freiburg – a stunning return for the youngster.

Ellie Carpenter – Australia

Carpenter is another hugely talented teenager who could star in the World Cup.

The attacking full-back made her debut in the National Women’s Soccer League, the top league in the world, at just 16 years old and she has come on leaps and bounds ever since.

The 19-year-old has already made 31 appearances for Australia and could be hugely important for her side both in defence and attack.

The Aussies will be looking for revenge from their Asia Cup final defeat last year and Carpenter looks primed to play a big role in the side.

Keira Walsh – England

Walsh enjoyed a fine season in the holding midfield role for Man City as they finished runners up in the league.

She has been an assured presence in front of the defence and even chipped in with one goal and five assists in 19 appearances –  a decent return for a defensive minded player.

The 22-year-old made her debut for England in a World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in 2017 and has since emerged as one of Neville’s most important players.
